188 países rechazan el bloqueo a Cuba

La resolución que condena el bloqueo a Cuba fue aprobada con 188 votos a favor, tres en contra, y dos abstenciones -Islas Marshall y Micronesia-, según anunció el presidente de la Asamblea General, Vuk Jeremic, al término de un debate que se extendió por casi tres horas, en el que la comunidad internacional condenó las agresiones contra Cuba.

La enviada especial de teleSUR en los Estados Unidos, Karina Cartagena informó que la resolución A67L2 que fue aprobada este martes con 188 votos a favor, tres en contra y dos abstenciones, no solo propone el levantamiento del bloqueo que mantiene los Estados Unidos sobre Cuba, sino que se respete la soberanía interna de cada país.

“Una vez que fue aprobada esta resolución que propone el lavantamiento del bloqueo de Estados Unidos a Cuba, también propone que se reafirme la realidad soberana y que no hayan intervenciones internacionales a las decisiones internas de los países”.

Cartagena también explicó que “las tres naciones que se opusieron a la resolución que propone el levantamiento del bloqueo fueron los Estados Unidos, Israel y Palau. Todavía se desconoce cuáles fueron las dos naciones que se sumaron a la aprobación de la resolución A67L2 con respecto al año pasado”.

La resolución de condena al bloqueo impuesto por Estados Unidos contra Cuba ha sido aprobada en 21 oportunidades anteriores, la primera vez en 1992 con 59 votos a favor, 3 en contra y 71 abstenciones.

Además de solicitar la abrogación de esa medida, la resolución expresa preocupación porque continúan aplicándose nuevas regulaciones dirigidas a ampliar el bloqueo, con graves efectos sobre la población cubana y sus nacionales residentes en otros países.

En 2011, la Isla recibió apoyo de 186 países miembros de la ONU (de un total de 193) con los únicos votos en contra de Estados Unidos e Israel y las abstenciones de Islas Marshall, Micronesia y Palau.

Las votaciones comenzaron el 24 noviembre de 1992, cuando la 47ma sesión ordinaria de la Asamblea aprobó por 59 sufragios a favor, tres en contra y 71 abstenciones la primera resolución en ese sentido.

La República de Cuba ha recibido el respaldo unánime de las naciones del mundo en numerosos foros, en donde además de condenarse el bloqueo se ha demandado al Gobierno de Estados Unidos su inmediato levantamiento.

Antes del sufragio electrónico, unos veinte oradores expresaron su oposición al carácter unilateral del embargo y su contravención de la Carta de la ONU y del derecho internacional.

Al introducir el texto de la resolución, el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, señaló que no existe ningún motivo legítimo o moral para mantener una medida anclada en la Guerra Fría.

“Es solo el arma de una minoría cada vez más exigua, aislada, violenta y soberbia que lucra electoralmente con ella, desprecia el reclamo de las mayorías y no se resigna ante la indoblegable determinación de los cubanos de decidir su propio destino”, dijo.

El canciller cubano reiteró la firme voluntad de Cuba de avanzar hacia la normalización de relaciones con Estados Unidos y propuso una agenda para un diálogo bilateral, sobre bases recíprocas y de igualdad soberana.

Según estimados de Cuba, el bloqueo impuesto en febrero de 1962, ha causado pérdidas a la economía de la isla caribeña que ya exceden el billón de dólares, logrando daños humanos incalculables a la población cubana.
